June 24 - Dustin Schulze has been appointed as the new Assistant Director of Bands at Martin High School, and will act as percussion specialist and coordinator of percussion studies for the Martin HS cluster.  Congratulations Mr. Schulze!

March 24 - The Martin HS Percussion Studio will present its 2K10 Percussion Bash, PROGRESSION, Saturday, March 24th at 7:30pm in the Martin HS Auditorium.  Admission is $5.

August 19th - The Martin Warrior Band will present its 2009 Band Premiere and Ice Cream Social Thursday, August 20th.  Action begins at 7pm.

April 23rd - The Martin Percussion Studio presents it Percussion Bash 2K9, featuring guest artist Ignacio Berrea!  The bash will take place on Monday, May 4th with a clinic during the day, time TBD, and the feature concert beginning at 7:30pm.

February 2nd - The Martin Percussion Studio will host its 7th Annual Drum-A-Thon Friday, February 6th.  Click HERE for more information.

November 15th - Congratulations to the Warrior Drumline on a 5th place finish in the Standstill I Division at the 2008 Lonestar Classic!

November 3rd - Although the marching band competitive season is now at an end, the varsity percussion section will continue with its afterschool rehearsal preparation for the Lone Star Classic on Nov. 15th.  Please stay tuned for more details!  Congrats to the Warrior Band for a great season!

October 1st - Congratulations Warrior Drumline on a 2nd place finish in Class AAA at the 2008 Plano Drumline Competition.  The Drumline also won caption awards for best snare line, best cymbal line, and best front ensemble in class.

August 21st - Great job percussion members during summer band!!!  We have accomplished alot this summer and we as a staff look forward to a great season!  Keep working hard!

July 21st - Attention Percussion Members - be sure to print off the most revised version of the music for this week's percussion camp.  Uploaded today are the completed Part 2 (opener) parts for the front ensemble!  Attention EVERYONE - This Thursday evening, July 24th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm will be our first annual Percussion Pool Party.  The Washburn's have graciously offered their backyard for the pool party and barbeque!  PARENTS - As part of the pool party, we will have a parent meet and greet.  This will be a great opportunity for you to visit with Mr. Carbone and our new percussion director Ms. Burns.  Also, we are interested in developing a close commardarie among the percussion parents.  This will be a great time to meet, greet, and get involved.  The Washburn's have asked for the students and parents to RSVP, so that they can be prepared with enough food for everyone.  We are also asking students to bring snacks, drinks, paperware, and dessert items.  For all information regarding the pool party, RSVP information, and what to bring, CLICK HERE!

June 4th - There is a discrepancy between the online calendar and printed calendar regarding the start time for freshman camp next week. The correct start time is 8am, not 9am.

May 22nd - Congratulations to every student that auditioned for the 2008 Martin HS Warrior Drumline. Click Here for the audition results.

May 20th - Announcing the MCP Junior High Night of Percussion 2K8, next Tuesday night at 7:30pm at Young Junior High School. The concert will feature solo and ensemble performances by members of the Boles 7th grade Beginning Percussion, Young 7th grade Intermediate Percussion, Young 8th Grade Advanced Percussion, and the Boles 8th Grade Advanced Percussion. Performances will begin at 7:30pm in the foyer at Young Junior High School. Performers are to report to Young JH at 7:15pm. There will be a brief informational meeting for all parents of 8th grade percussionists advancing to the Martin HS Percussion Studio next year immediatlely following the performance in the Young JH Band Hall.

April 29th - Congratulations to the Young JH Concert Band - Straight "I" Ratings at the Sandy Lake Band Fun-Fest!!! Warrior Drumline and Front Ensemble auditions have been moved to Tuesday, May 20th - Thursday, May 22nd. Students will sign-up for individual audition times on Tuesday, May 6th during the training sessions, so it is important for everyone to make the session next Tuesday! The 2K8 Junior High Night of Percussion will be on Tuesday, May 27th, 7pm in the Young JH Band Hall. That is the Tuesday after Memorial Day. The concert will feature our Martin Cluster Junior High Percussionists performing solos and ensembles. Admission is FREE!!!

April 15th -
Next week's Spring Training Sessions have been moved to Tuesday, April 22nd, Varisty from 3 - 5 and JV/8th Grade from 5 - 6:30pm, due to the HS Spring Band trip.

April 8th - Spring Training for Varsity Drumline auditions began last Thursday. A letter packet was distributed to every student that attended last week's and Monday's sessions. At the back of the packet is a registration and acknowledgement form that needs to be completed, signed by a parent and returned ASAP. The letter packet includes important information regarding the spring training sessions, auditions, PASIC for next fall, and the UNT Marching Percussion Camp this summer. April 3rd - The results are in! Thanks to everyone who donated to the garage sale cause and supported our Car Wash. We raised $2100.00! On behalf of the Warrior Drumlne thank you for your support!

March 17th - Last Friday this important Parent Letter was distributed via email and sent home with the students. If you are able to assist us with any of next week's events please let us know. Thanks!

March 14th - If you haven't heard by now - the Annual Martin Percussion Bash will be held on Thursday, March 27th beginning at 7pm in the MHS Auditorium. The bash will feature guest percussionist and composer Andrew Beall, as well as the Martin HS Percussion Studio with guest performers from Boles and Young JH studios as well. The concert will include an encore performance of the Warrior Drumline's 2008 Blacklight production. Admission is $5. Don't miss this concert. Is guaranteed to be a blast!

March 2nd - The Martin HS Percussion Studio announces a clinic with Dr. Brian West from TCU, Monday, March 10th from 3 - 6pm. The clinic entitled "How to Prepare your Percussion Ensemble through Effective Rehearsal and Recording" will feature the Martin HS Percussion Ensemble as the demonstration group. The clinic is free to all and will take place in the Martin HS Band Hall. The Martin Percussion ensemble will conclude the clinic with a concert / recording session from 6 - 7pm, also in the Martin HS Band Hall.

February 22nd - The Martin Percussion Cluster will hold its annual garage sale on Saturday, March 29th from 7am - 2pm in the west parking lot. Start sorting out your excess stuff and get ready to send it our way. We will start collecting garage sale "merchandise" on Friday, March 28th from 4pm - 8pm.

February 12th - The Arlington Night of Percussion will take place on Friday, February 29th at Martin HS in the Band Hall. The evening will feature performances by soloists and percussion ensembles from the high school percussion studios in Arlington. A schedule of performances will be available in the upcoming weeks.

February 10th
- The Sixth-Annual MPC Drum-A-Thon was a success this past weekend. Members of the Boles JH, Young JH, and Martin HS Percussion Studios rehearsed through the night and morning hours in preparation for the upcoming Percussion Bash in March, as well as earned sponsorships to help financially support the percussion studios in the Martin Cluster. There is still time to support the programs, however, all pledges and sponsorships must be in by February 22nd. Thank you again for your support!

November 19th - Today select members of the 9th and 10th grade percussion studio will audition for the 2007 All-City 9/10 Honor Band at Martin HS. Auditions begin at approximately 5:15pm.

November 11th - Congratulations to the WD for earning 5th place honors at the 2007 Lonestar Classic. The WD competed with 25 other units in their class, including Leander HS (4th), Coppell (3rd), Georgetown (2nd), and Round Rock (1st). Congratulations to all of the members of the drumline and front ensemble on a great season!!!! Thank you drumline parents for your help, support, and for the letting the staff work with your kids!!! Thank you Pit Crew for once again assisting the WD, the best pit crew in all of Texas!

November 7th - The James Martin HS Warrior Drumline will compete at the Lone Star Classic on Saturday, November 10th at Goldsmith Stadium on Main Street in Lewisville, TX. The line will perform at 4:36pm in the Standstill I division.

Performance Schedule

October 1st - Congratulations to the Warrior Drumline for earning 3rd place honors in the AAA standstill class at the Plano Drumline Competition with a score of 89.67. A first place tie was awarded Colleyville Heritage HS (2005 AAA Champion) and Georgetown HS (2006 PAS Standstill National Champion). Competition was fierce, and the WD stepped up to the challenge with a great performance securing a 3rd place finish (2nd place on one judge's tote) with one of the highest scores the WD has achieved at Plano in recent years. Congratulations to all of the members and special thanks to the Pit Crew for their help the day of the competition and to all of the drumline parents for their continued support!

September 24th - The Plano Drumline Competition schedule has been released. Martin performs at 8:00pm. Visit the front page for our daily itinerary, directions to Clark Stadium, and the full performance schedule.

September 17th - Everyone make sure your calendars are marked. We are officially registered for the Plano Drumline Contest on Saturday, September 29th. We expect to learn of our performance and report times shortly after the 19th of September.

August 19th - Congrats everyone on a very successful band camp! The members have worked very hard, and the show is coming together very well. Enjoy your final week of summer break this week!

August 2nd - We are having an extremely productive camp so far. Thank you for your hard work! This will make you even happier regarding next week - the band WILL NOT rehearse in the evening next Friday, August 10th, so will be taking that night OFF!! Enjoy - go to a movie, or spend time at home with family and friends. Thanks!

July 24th - Just a reminder to everyone that August 6th - 10th camp will be 8am - 12noon for the JV Drumline, and 5 - 9pm for the Varsity Drumline. Also, JV Drumline is to attend the Percussion Camp, August 1st - 3rd, from 8am - noon ONLY. If you have any questions please email Mr. Carbone.

July 23rd - Off again to judge DCI tonight and will be back mid-day tomorrow. Dennis Carty will be with the morning sectional groups - JV and front ensemble. Have a great day!

July 15th - I returned today from a short DCI judging stint in TN and GA. Some great drumlines this year! Anyhow, I added this announcements page as a quick reference and check for the latest announcements and/or information. This should be the first page that members and parents check when they visit the site. Parents or Staff - If you have any information that you would like for me to post here, just send me an email and I will do so ASAP. Sectionals this Tuesday. Mr. Hil will be the instructor in charge.
